Greenwood Clinical Psychology
I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation, where we can explore what you're looking for, and see if we might be the right match.

Our assessment phase is the first step in your therapy journey. We’ll explore your current challenges, strengths, and goals to develop a clear shared understanding of your needs. This helps us to consider which therapy modality, or modalities, might be a good fit. If you want to continue to psychological therapy, we will agree a specific number of sessions and then set a review point.

Individual psychological therapy sessions can help you to explore and make sense of your difficulties, and work towards your goals using evidence-based approaches. I offer tailored psychological therapy for adults, using one or more evidence-based therapeutic modalities. I currently offer online therapy, but if you are interested in face to face, please do get in touch.

Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing is a therapy designed to help people process and heal from distressing memories and trauma, which are contributing to distress in the here and now. It involves specific eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation (like tapping or auditory tones) whilst thinking about a memory. This process helps to reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional intensity. EMDR is widely used to treat PTSD, recommended by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps people recognise and understand the links between their thoughts, emotions, body sensations and behaviours, and to make helpful changes based on this understanding. CBT is an active therapy, which is goal-oriented and usually shorter-term. It involves active between-session practice tasks, which are agreed collaboratively between client and therapist. CBT has a strong evidence base and is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for a variety of difficulties. Sessions last 1 hour, and usually take place weekly. I can offer CBT focused on the following difficulties:

-
Depression
-
Generalised anxiety/worry
-
Social anxiety
-
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) - Trauma Focused CBT
-
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
-
Specific Phobias

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) combines psychology, neuroscience, and mindfulness. It has a focus on supporting the development of the Compassionate Self. It is particularly helpful for people struggling with self-compassion, self-criticism, shame, and low self-worth. CFT can help with developing alternative ways of managing difficult emotions and relating to the self, and other people. It can be a helpful approach for those who have adverse experiences and trauma. It is an active, collaborative therapy, and utilises a range of experiential exercises to create meaningful change, both in and outside of sessions. CFT principles can be integrated within other therapeutic modalities, such as CBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
